Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) invites the public to comment on a proposal to purchase a perpetual conservation easement on the 4,900 acre Moline Ranch currently owned by Chris Moline. The Moline Ranch is located approximately 20 miles east of Geraldine in ChouteauCounty. The purpose of the proposed easement is to protect significant conservation values that existon the Ranch, which include farm and ranch lands, native sagebrush grassland plant communities, wildlife habitats, scenic open space, historic sites and recreational opportunities.

On April 29, 2010 the Fish, Wildlife and Parks Commission (commission) published MAR Notice No. 12-362 pertaining to the public hearings on the proposed amendments of the recreational water use of the Beaverhead and Big Hole Rivers at page 968 of the 2010 Montana Administrative Register, Issue Number 8. The commission has amended ARM 12.11.202, 12.11.205, 12.11.210, 12.11.207, 12.11.212, 12.11.215, and 12.11.220

On August 25, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. the commission will hold a public hearing at the Fish, Wildlife and Parks Headquarter offices located at 1420 East 6th Avenue, Helena, Montana to consider the amendment and adoption of rules pertaining to controlled and prohibited exotic species.

FWP seeks public review of its proposal to acquire a 24,170-acre Wildlife Management Area (WMA) northwest of Seeley Lake, in Missoula County; it would be named the Marshall Creek WMA. The purpose of this proposal is to secure critical fish and wildlife habitat and to maintain compatible recreational opportunities and access for the public. A draft environmental assessment, management plan and socio-economic assessment have been prepared for this proposal. A Decision Notice has been prepared for the Dooling Ranch Irrigation Improvement Project Environmental Assessment. The fluvial Arctic grayling population in the upper Big Hole watershed is threatened by low quality habitat and low instream flows. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is proposing improvements to this irrigation system to improve the management and measurement taken from tributaries of the Big Hole River for the purpose of irrigation.
