In accordance with the Montana Environmental Policy Act, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (MFWP) is required to assess the impacts a proposal or project might have on the human and natural environments. Further, the MFWP's land lease-out policy, as it pertains to the disposition of interest in Department lands (89-1-209) requires that an EA be written for all new leases, lease extensions or lease renewals. This draft EA assesses the potential impacts from farming 28 acres of existing cropland on the newly acquired Clarks Fork of the Yellowstone FAS.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks have released a Decision Notice for an Environmental Assessment (EA) to grant funds to the Broadwater Rod and Gun Club for a Shooting Range Development Grant project. The Indian Creek Shooting range is located at: T.7N., R.1E., Sec. 21: E1/2 & sec. 28: N1/2 NE1/4; in Broadwater County. This project will provide $38,550 in partial funding towards the construction of the Black Ram Archery range and trail at the Indian Creek Shooting Range.

FWP has issued a Decision Notice (DN) to purchase via fee title a 33,295-acre Wildlife Management Area, and a 7,650-acre State Park from The Nature Conservancy (TNC) centered in the Fish Creek watershed in Mineral County, within FWP administrative Region Two. Funding would come from the state Habitat Montana and Access Montana Programs, and the federal Pittman-Robertson Program, in the amount of approximately $14,350,000. This DN is available for review by downloading the file below,in Helena at FWP’s Headquarters, the State Library. the Environmental Quality Council and the Region 2 FWP Headquarters. In consideration of the Draft EA and the DN, we will recommend that the Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission approve the proposed purchase of the Fish Creek property at its March 10th meeting in Helena. Approval will also be necessary from the Montana Board of Land Commissioners. Both the Commission and Land Board meetings are open to the public.

The enclosed Decision Notice has been prepared for the Eight Mile Ford Fishing Access Site Proposed Property Addition Acquisition. This proposed property addition acquisition proposes to obtain 3 acres on the South side of Eight Mile Ford FAS on the Madison River from the Granger Ranch. Three public comments were received during a 30-day comment period ending February 18, 2010. It is my decision to proceed with the proposed project with no changes to the Draft EA.
