Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has released a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for review and public comment regarding a proposal to grant funds to the Central Montana Shooting Complex in Fergus County Montana (Recreation - 07/31/2009)
Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP), Region One, has completed an environmental assessment (EA) for a project at Lake Mary Ronan State Park for the purpose of constructing approximately 1.75 miles of hiking trails.
The draft EA was out for a 30-day public review, with one comment being received in favor of the project. Therefore, Alternative B, the construction of the hiking trail, was found to be the preferred alternative. A copy of the decision is attached.

The enclosed Decision Notice has been prepared for the Upper Shields River Watershed Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout Inventory and Brook Trout Suppression Project. This project proposes the mechanical removal of Eastern brook trout (Salvelinus fontanalis) that are encountered during an intensive inventory of the headwaters of the Shields River for distribution of Yellowstone cutthroat trout (Oncorhynchus clarki bouvieri). The objective of brook trout suppression is to reduce competition with Yellowstone cutthroat over the short term until a detailed conservation plan for Yellowstone cutthroat can be implemented. Only one public comment was received during a 30-day comment period ending July 24, 2009.
It is my decision to proceed with the proposed project, with no changes to the Draft EA.
