Commission Minutes of February Meeting
(Commission Meetings - 10/23/2008)

Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP), Region One, has completed an environmental assessment (EA) for the proposed creation of the North Shore State Park/WMA. FWP adopts the draft EA as the final EA, with changes and additions as set forth in the decision notice, and proposes to acquire approximately 180 acres of primarily open land located between Montana Highway 82 and the Flathead Lake Waterfowl Production Area operated by the US Fish & Wildlife Service along the North Shore of Flathead Lake in Flathead County. The decision notice recommends that FWP complete the proposed acquisition subject to final approval by the FWP Commission and the State Land Board. The total cost to FWP is approximately $2.25 million. The acquisition would be co-managed by both Parks and Wildlife Divisions, with the Parks development project limited to an approximately 25-acre footprint and the balance of lands managed primarily for wildlife, habitat, educational, and compatible recreational purposes.
