The attached Decision Notice has been prepared for a proposed native westslope cutthroat trout (WCT) conservation effort in Leverich Creek near Bozeman, MT. The WCT population in Leverich Creek is currently threatened by competition from nonnative brook. FWP is proposing to removal nonnative brook trout from a 1.4 mile section of Leverich Creek using electrofishing and trapping, and to place a fish migration barrier to prevent reinvasion of brook trout. FWP released a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning this proposed effort on August 18, 2008. One public comment was received during a 29-day comment period ending September 15, 2008. This comment was supportive of the proposed project.
It is my decision to proceed with the proposed project, with no changes to the Draft EA.
