After reviewing public comments from an Environmental Assessment, FWP will proceed with Phase III of construction at Frenchtown Pond State Park. This project will include an irrigation system with it’s own well, top-soil and turf grass in selected areas of high use, and trees and shrubs to landscape around the comfort stations, entrance area, host pad, playground and other selected areas as identified in the Frenchtown Pond State Parks’ Management Plan and Master Site Plan.

Hell Creek State Park—Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks with cooperation from USFWS—Charles M. Russell Wildlife Refuge are proposing to create a diversified trail system. Three trails would be considered non-motorized and one trail would include motorized traffic. Two separate trailheads would be established along with two separate parking areas next to the trailheads. The projects are predicted to begin in May of 2007 and completion is scheduled for September of 2007.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is requesting public comment on the following tentative proposals adopted by the FWP Commission at their May 11, 2006 meeting. The information noted below represents the proposed changes for Region One Deer Regulation Amendments, HB454 Hunting Access Agreement, Tentative 2006 deer, elk, and antelope license quotas, Final - Commission Decision Whether to Reissue Nonresident Deer Combination Licenses, Tentative – Upland Game Bird Seasons.

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP), Region One, has completed an environmental assessment (EA) for Lone Pine State Park in Flathead County to grant an easement through a portion of the park on an existing road for the purpose of accessing a communications tower located on private land adjacent to the park. Alternative B, proposing to grant the easement, was found to be the preferred alternative.
