Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) has the authority under law (MCA 87-2-411) to conserve wetlands in Montana. Since enactment of the Migratory Bird Stamp Act in 1985, the Montana Legislature has directed FWP to earmark revenues collected from the sales of migratory bird licenses to protect, conserve and develop wetlands (MCA 87-2-411). This is now referred to as FWP's Migratory Bird Stamp Program. (Decision Notices - 10/06/2011)
Centurylink/Qwest is requesting an easement from FWP to install a fiber-optic cable through Point of Rocks FAS Upstream Parcel. The proposed action is an easement granted by FWP. The easement would allow Centurylink/Qwest to bury a fiber-optic cable in the easement area. Centurylink/Qwest is building its fiber-optic cable to provide upgraded communications infrastructure to Yellowstone National Park, and the communities of Gardiner and West Yellowstone located in southwest Montana.
This Draft EA is available for review in Helena at FWP’s Headquarters, the State Library, and the Environmental Quality Council. It also may be obtained from FWP at the address provided above, or viewed on FWP’s Internet website: http://www.fwp.mt.gov .
