Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) seeks public review and comment on a draft environmental assessment (EA) for proposed site improvements at the Russell Gates Memorial Fishing Access Site (FAS).
The proposed improvements include creating a designated day-use parking area with up to 30 parking spaces, building a new gravel boat ramp, installing a vault latrine, as well as revegetation and stabilization of the riverbank.

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP), Region One, has completed an environmental assessment (EA) for a proposal to exchange approximately 223 acres of state-owned land in the northern portion of the Pablo Wildlife Management Area by FWP for 240 acres of private property adjacent to the southwest portion of Ninepipe Wildlife Management Area in order to preserve the diverse array of upland and wetland species present in that area. Acquisition will also provide for new habitat management activities and recreational access.
Following a 30-day public review and a public meeting, there were no changes to the draft EA based on the EA and public comment received. Therefore, the draft EA, together with the decision notice, will serve as the final document for this proposal, and FWP will proceed with the proposal subject to final approval by the FWP Commission and the State Land Board. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) has scheduled a public meeting regarding the recently proposed Foys Lake Site Development and Land Trade Project. The environmental assessment for this project was released for a 30-day public review on August 31, 2009. The public comment period has been extended until 5:00 p.m. on November 10, 2009. The public meeting will be held on November 4, 2009, at 6:00 p.m. at the Lone Pine State Park Visitor Center. The public meeting will consist of an informational presentation by FWP, followed by a question and answer session. A copy of the draft EA is attached. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP), Region One, has completed an environmental assessment (EA) for a project at Lake Mary Ronan State Park for the purpose of campground improvements, including road paving, additional boat trailer parking, campsite electrical pedestals, and replacement of a vault latrine.
The draft was out for a 30-day public review through September 23, 2009. Four comments were received, which are addressed in the decision notice. Alternative B, to proceed with the campground improvements as proposed, was found to be the preferred alternative. A copy of the decision is attached for your information.
