Ennis Fishing Access Site, just southeast of the town of Ennis on the Upper Madison River, has reopened to public use.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks closed the site December 4, along with the Valley Garden Fishing Access Site, due to dangerous ice build-up and impassable conditions. Valley Garden reopened April 15.

“We’re usually able to open the Ennis FAS in early May, but because of the high level of ice gouging and the damage it did to our road system, it just wasn’t safe yet.  This year’s ice gouging was the most we’ve seen in the past decade,” said Molly Wainwright, FWP River Recreation Manager.
