Painted Rocks State Park and Fort Owen State Park in Stage 1 Fire Restrictions

(Helena, MT) – Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) announced today that Painted Rocks State Park located in Darby and Fort Owen State Park in Stevensville are under Stage 1 fire restrictions effective immediately.

Montana State Parks is implementing the restrictions at the state parks in coordination with Bitterroot National Forest in Ravalli County.

At Painted Rocks and Fort Owen state parks all campfires and open flames are prohibited. The building of campfires within steel fire grates will not be permitted in these parks. Propane and LPG camp stoves are allowed. Smoking is not allowed except in enclosed vehicles or developed sites at least 3 feet in diameter and cleared of all flammable materials.

An update on stateparks.mt.gov will be issued when the restriction is lifted.
