(Helena, MT) - Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) is seeking public comment on 27 grant applications for snowmobile trail grooming funds for the 2012/2013 winter season.

Montana’s snowmobile trial grooming program is carried out by members and volunteers associated with local snowmobile clubs in Montana communities.

The annual snowmobile trail grooming grants are administered by Montana State Parks and allocated with review and recommendations by the citizens’ Snowmobile Advisory Committee.

The program is funded with a percentage of the state gas tax paid by snowmobile users and snowmobile registration fees. About $390,000 is available for the upcoming season.

The grant applications are available for review at Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks regional offices and at the Montana State Parks office, 1420 East 6th Ave., in Helena.

The public may comment through Wednesday, Sept. 5. Comment by email to: treilly@mt.gov; call: 406-444-3752; or write: Montana State Parks, Snowmobile Program, 1420 East 6th Avenue, P.O. Box 200701, Helena, MT 59620-0701.
