(Great Falls, MT) –Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) announced today:
What: Join us and participate in ‘National Public Lands Day’ at Giant Springs State Park. You can help preserve, protect and celebrate one of your favorite state parks at this special event.
9 am – 1 pm: Volunteers are needed to help build, maintain and complete the N. Shore Trail system from Rainbow Dam to Cochrane Dam.
Please bring the following items:
Closed toed shoes, water, gloves, lunch/snacks and other personal supplies. Restrooms will be located at the Rainbow Trailhead for volunteers.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of National Public Lands Day (http://www.publiclandsday.org/), a national day of service to encourage people to spend time outdoors and support public lands.
When: Saturday, September 28, 2013, 9 am – 1 pm.
Where: Meet at the Rainbow Dam Trailhead at 336 Rainbow Dam Road at 9 am. The trailhead is located on the North Shore of the Missouri River at the end of Rainbow Dam Rd. We will carpool or provide a group ride into the worksite leaving at 9 am. If you are later than 9 am, please walk or bike down the road to the Crooked Falls Managed Natural Area and meet the group.
Directions: Drive east on Wire Mill Rd out of Black Eagle and bear right onto Rainbow Dam Rd, after the Rainbow Dam Complex you will encounter the Trailhead at the end of the road.
