(Billings, MT) –Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) announced that Lake Elmo State Park in Billings will host two motorboat safety inspection days on Lake Elmo in May.
What: Motorboat Safety Inspections
When: Saturday, May 4, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Saturday, May 18, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Lake Elmo State Park, 2300 Lake Elmo Dr., Billings at the boat ramp on the northwest shore of Lake Elmo.
Who: U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary officials will provide vessel inspections and answer boaters’
In May, Lake Elmo State Park opens the lake to gasoline-powered motorboats so boaters can safety test their vessels on the water. Boater safety events are set for two Saturdays in May, May 4 and May 18, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For details call: 406-247-2955.
U.S. Coast Guard officials will be at the boat ramp on the northwest shore of Lake Elmo to assist boat owners, provide vessel inspections and answer questions.
Lake Elmo State Park, located on a 64-acre reservoir within the Billings city limits, is a great place to swim, boat, sailboard, fish, birdwatch and enjoy the 1.4- mile nature trail. In the 2012 season (Jan.-Sept.) Lake Elmo State Park hosted 215,000 visitors, a 60 percent increase over 2011.
