Float the Smith River in 2013 - Permit Applications available starting Wednesday, January 2

(Helena, MT) – Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) announced today that permit applications to float the Smith River State Park and River Corridor will be available beginning Wednesday, January 2 through Friday, February 15, 2013.

Smith River State Park offers gorgeous scenery in a remote setting. Renowned trout fishing is just one of the recreational opportunities that make this float trip an unforgettable experience.

Permits are required to float the 59-mile section of river between Camp Baker and Eden Bridge and are issued annually through a lottery.

“Montanans know that the Smith River is a premier recreation destination, and last year we saw a record number of applicants,” said Chas Van Genderen, Administrator of Montana State Parks. “We look forward to our upcoming season and to providing a fun and safe experience.”
