(Whitehall, MT) –Tickets for Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park’s spectacular holiday candlelight tours go on sale Monday, Nov. 26.
A candlelight tour of the park’s sparkling limestone caverns is a magical way to celebrate the holidays.
The tours occur only in December—Dec. 15 and 16; Dec. 21 and 22; and Dec. 29 and 30. Tour groups will set out every 45 minutes starting at 9:30 a.m. with the final tour of the day at 2:45 p.m. Visitors must check in at the visitor center 30 minutes in advance.
To purchase the nonrefundable tour tickets, call the park at (406) 287-3541 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. daily. Tickets are $15 for adults (12 and up) and $8 for children (6-11).
Candle lanterns are provided. The 2 mile tour takes 2 hours to complete, including the hike to the caverns. Visitors should dress for snow, wind and cold. This tour is not appropriate for children 5 and under.
Coffee, hot chocolate and cookies will be available at the visitor center.
Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park is 19 miles west of Three Forks on Montana 2, or 15 miles east of Whitehall on Montana 2.
One of the most highly decorated limestone caverns in the Northwest, Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park features a labyrinth of rooms spectacularly decorated with stalactites, stalagmites, columns and helictites. In the 2012 season (Jan. – Sept.) more than 53,000 people visited Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park, a 9 percent increase over 2011.
