Media Advisory: 350 Students Nationwide to Participate in Virtual Classroom at Travelers' Rest State Park
(Helena, MT) – Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) announced today that 350 students in grades 3rd -9th from Montana and across the nation will be participating in a pilot-program virtual classroom event at Travelers’ Rest State Park in Lolo on Thursday, November 15.
“This program is exciting because it is an opportunity for us to reach out to other communities and states to share the rich history of this area and Travelers’ Rest State Park,” said Loren Flynn, Park Manager at Travelers’ Rest State Park.
350 students will be participating during the day. The programs will be repeated through the day and each lasts about an hour. The classrooms joining via video-conference are from
Box Elder, MT, Eureka, MT, Evergreen, AL, Greenville, SC, Bryan, OH, and Chippewa Falls, WI.
“Through this pilot program we hope to spread the word to kids, teachers and families across the nation about Montana state history and heritage through our amazing state parks,” said Ryan Alter, CEO of Inspired Classroom.
This nationwide virtual classroom pilot-program event is a partnership with Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov), Worldwide Idea Read-A-Route (http://www.readaroute.com/), a Missoula based non-profit organization and Inspired Classroom (http://inspiredclassroom.com/) a Missoula based technology education company and division of Alter Enterprise.
Montana State Parks has donated staff time and receives no revenue from this pilot-program.

Travelers’ Rest State Park is the location of a centuries-old Native American gathering ground. It features the only archaeologically verified campsite in the nation of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. In the 2012 season (Jan. – Sept.) more than 21,116 people visited this state park, a 13% increase over the 2011 season.
