The National Public Lands Day 2012 slogan, “Helping Hands for America's Lands” describes this single-day volunteer event celebrating public lands. National Public Lands Day keeps the promise of the Civilian Conservation Corps, the "tree army" that worked from 1933-1942 to preserve and protect America's natural heritage. Milltown State Park is anticipated to open in 2014. The park’s 500 acres, located at what was once the site of the Milltown Dam, is a hopeful story of our changing relationship to the land and the benefits of river restoration. The forested bluff overlooking the dam site is currently open to visitors.
