(Helena, MT) – Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) announced today that the campground at Missouri Headwaters State Park near Three Forks will close Oct. 1 for maintenance on the campsites and roads. The campground will re-open April 1, 2013.
Missouri Headwaters State Park and all of the park’s day-use activities are open and available to the public throughout the winter months, as usual.
The planned work will include new gravel road surfacing and the leveling of campsites.
Missouri Headwaters State Park is a National Historic Landmark rich in Native American, Lewis and Clark, fur trade, and early settlement history. In the 2011 summer season (May-August) more than 13,300 people visited Missouri Headwaters State Park, a 34-percent increase over the year before.
