Montana State Parks News

(Helena, MT) – Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) announced today that boat docks at Cooney State Park, in Roberts, will be removed for the remainder of the season due to low water. Specific docks affected include those at Marshall Cove, Red Lodge Creek and the North Shore dock.

Park officials said there is, on average, about 450 feet between the shore at Cooney Reservoir and the water line. Boaters are welcome to launch vessels at their own risk on the sandy surface below the concrete boat ramps.

Cooney Reservoir State Park offers year-round activities, with campgrounds, boating, swimming and fishing. Ice fishing, cross country skiing and ice skating keep the fun going during the winter months. In the 2011 summer season (May- August) nearly 94,000 people visited Cooney Reservoir State Park.
