Opportunity for Public Comment on Proposed Bannack Fire Alarm System Upgrade

(Dillon, MT) – Montana State Parks ( is seeking public comment on a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for a proposed Fire Alarm System Upgrade at Bannack State Park near Dillon, MT. Comments accepted through Friday, April 20, 2018 at 5pm.

Free Field Trips at Travelers’ Rest State Park Thanks to Generous TRPHA Auction Donors

(Lolo, MT) – On March 2, Travelers’ Rest Preservation & Heritage Association (TRPHA) held its 12th annual fundraising auction. Auction guests were invited to raise their paddles to make donations in support of free field trips at Travelers’ Rest State Park. Thanks to their generosity, the $2 per student fee will be waived for school field trips scheduled from March 2018 through June 2019. Additional funds raised by the auction will be used to meet TRPHA’s mission to support Travelers’ Rest State Park through outreach, advocacy, and educational experiences that link the past to the future.

Field Trip Grants Available for 2018 Montana Fourth Graders to Public Lands Initiative

(Helena, MT) – Montana State Parks ( is pleased to announce that applications for $300 field trip travel grants are now being accepted through the 2018 Montana Fourth Graders to Public Lands Initiative. The grant money is aimed at providing transportation funding to Montana fourth graders for visits to federal and state public lands with an emphasis on assisting classrooms and groups who lack needed transportation funds. The grants are made possible by the National Park Foundation and help support the 2015 White House youth initiative Every Kid in a Park.
