Road Advisory Announced for Pictograph Cave State Park


(Billings, MT) – Montana State Parks ( announced today that visitors to Pictograph State Park should use caution when driving to the park. Heavy equipment from nearby pipeline construction has caused rough road conditions. Travel on the road may be hazardous to vehicles, especially motorcycles.

“Be Snake Aware” Series at First Peoples Buffalo Jump - May 18th & June 8th


(Ulm, MT) – Montana State Parks ( is offering a two-part “Be Snake Aware” series at First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park. “Be Snake Aware: Part I” will take place on Saturday, May 18 from 10am to 11:30am and “Part II” on Saturday, June 8 from 11am to 1pm.

Makoshika Road Opening Delayed until after Memorial Day


(Glendive, MT) – Montana State Parks ( announced today that construction work will keep the road at Makoshika State Park closed until after Memorial Day. Unseasonably cold weather has postponed completion of the $1.85 million project to renovate and rebuild the primary access road in the park.

Montana State Parks & Recreation Board to Meet in Helena


(Helena, MT) – The Montana State Parks & Recreation Board will meet to hear an individual appeal of a Department decision regarding Hell Creek State Park on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 10:00am. The meeting will be held at the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) Headquarters located at 1420 E. 6th Avenue in Helena, MT.

Milltown State Park Confluence Area Gate Hours Extended


(Missoula, MT) – Montana State Parks ( has extended the Milltown State Park gate hours at the Confluence Area to 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Walk-in and bike-in visitors may use the park from sunrise to sunset, but vehicles must be moved outside the gate on Juniper Drive prior to 9 p.m. Vehicles left in the Confluence Area parking lot at 7501 Juniper Dr will be locked in overnight and can be picked up the next day. Parking violators may be cited.
