Spring Hunter Education Classes Set for SE Montana

Hunting - Region 7

MILES CITY—Hunter Education classes have been scheduled for southeast Montana. All students must register online (Register online at fwp.mt.gov, click education) for the following courses. Classes are free and a student must be at least 11 years old to be certified. Any person born after January 1, 1985 must present a Hunter Education Certificate in order to purchase a hunting license in Montana.

Miles City (March class)
Registration: The classroom portion of this class is full, however the online student field day is accepting students.
Field day: Mar. 2 (open to online students – must pre-register by Feb. 26. Students must bring proof of online test completion and photo ID to be admitted. (This will be the only online field day in Miles City in 2014.)

Forsyth
Registration: Must be done online; Limited to first 30 students. Books will be issued Feb. 20th
Class: March 1 – 2, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the American Legion building.
Field day: March 2, 1 – 5 p.m. at Forsyth Shooting Range. This is open to online students but they must register online no later than Mar. 1st. Students must provide proof of online test completion and photo ID to be admitted.

Hysham
Registration: Must be done online from Jan. 16 – Mar. 17. Class is limited to the first 15 students.
Class: Monday, Mar. 24 – Mar. 28, 6-9 p.m. at the Treasure Co. Courthouse.
Field day: Saturday, March 29, 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Treasure Co. Courthouse. Students must provide proof of online test completion and photo ID to be admitted.
Notes: Students must pick up class materials by March 17 and the workbook must be completed prior to class. Materials can be picked up at the Treasure County Courthouse.

Glendive:
Registration: Must be done online Feb. 5 – Mar.16. Materials must be picked up at Dawson Community College- Ullman Center, room 106 on Monday, Mar.17 from 6-7 p.m.
Class: Monday, March 24 - March 28, 6-7 p.m. each night at Dawson Community College.
Field Day: Saturday, March 29. Details of the location and times for this event will be announced in class. Online students are welcome and must register online, but are REQUIRED to contact instructor NO LATER THAN March 24 to get location and times for this event. All online students will need to bring the certificate of completion and a valid photo ID to be admitted into the field day.

Miles City (May class)
Registration: Must be done online Mar. 10 – Apr. 18. Class is limited to first 50 students. Class materials must be picked up no later than Apr. 21 at the Fish, Wildlife and Parks office or the student will be dropped from class.
Class: May 2, 5:30 – 8:30 p.m., May 3, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., May 4, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. at FWP Region 7 office
Field day: May 4 (no online students will be admitted to this field day)

Jordan:
Registration: Register online between Feb.7 and Mar. 2. Orientation will be held at the Old Grade School (208 Main Street, Jordan, MT 59337) on Mar. 3 from 5:30- 7:30 p.m. A parent or guardian must be in attendance with the student for the entire evening.
Class: Classes will be held at the Old Grade School on March 10, 11, 13, 17, 18 and 20th from 5:30 – 8:00p.m.
Field Day: (Weather Permitting) March 22 from 8:30a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Online students are welcome to the field day and must register online. Students must contact the instructor by March 21 to get time and location for the field day. A valid MT ID and certificate of completion must be presented prior to entering the field day.
