Montana's hunting seasons for most upland game birds, including grouse and turkey, open Sept. 1. The state's archery-only hunting season for deer, elk, antelope, black bear, wolf and mountain lion also opens Sept. 1. The bighorn sheep archery season begins Sept. 5.
