Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks’ Block Management hunting access program is an important feature of the Montana hunting scene.
In 2010 FWP estimates that 1,300 landowners and 85,000 hunters participated in the Block Management Program, providing hunters with access to nearly 9 million acres of enrolled land.
FWP periodically asks landowners and hunters to evaluate the Block Management Program. To date, most hunters surveyed say they are satisfied or very satisfied with the program and the hunting opportunities provided. About 60 percent said they were successful in harvesting game on a BMA in 2009, the most recent year measured.
To review the latest Block Management Program survey, go to the FWP website at fwp.mt.gov and the Doing Business page and select reference information and then surveys.
