Montana's Spring Turkey Hunting Season Coming Soon

Montana’s spring turkey gobbler season opens April 11, 2009 and closes May 17, 2009.

Licenses are available from all Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks offices, on the FWP web site at fwp.mt.gov and from FWP license providers across the state.

Hunters who wish to hunt in a special spring turkey permit area have until March 12 to apply on line at fwp.mt.gov . Click on 'Apply for a License or Buy a Permit' at Online Services. Or, download an application form from the Hunting page.

The 2009 Spring Turkey Hunting regulations, with details on turkey hunting in the general and special permit hunting areas, will be available online at fwp.mt.gov the end of February, and in print mid -March at FWP regional offices and FWP license providers.

Hunters in FWP, Region 7 can purchase up to two turkey licenses per year, which are valid during the spring and/or fall seasons. In the spring, hunters can only harvest gobblers (males). Any turkey license not used during the spring season can be used in the fall, beginning September 1st and are valid for gobblers or hens.
