Hunting - Region 7
This news release was archived on Saturday, June 30, 2007

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP) is seeking landowners in Region 7 (Southeastern, MT.) who are interested in participating in the Block Management Program.

Block Management is a cooperative effort between private landowners, FWP and the hunting public. Landowners are compensated for impacts that occur from allowing free public hunting on their land.  The guidelines for the program are flexible and hunter management can be adjusted to fit the needs of most landowners. Cooperators may designate areas closed to hunting or elect to allow walk-in only hunting with designated parking areas. Hunter numbers can be managed to limit the impacts to the ranching operation. The goal is to negotiate a long-term level of use that addresses the objectives of the hunters, FWP and the landowner.

For more information or an application package interested landowners may contact their local FWP representative (game warden or biologist) or phone, Steve Atwood, Region 7 Block Management Coordinator at the FWP Region 7 Headquarters in Miles City at 406-234-0930.
