In response to requests to improve the size and durability of Montana’s hunting and fishing licenses, FWP now uses a new, flexible water proof paper for all licenses purchased over-the-counter.
Licenses or carcass tags for black bear, deer, elk, antelope, mountain lion and turkey, have new validation requirements. To properly validate a harvest, hunters must cut out two digits for the day of the kill-- 0, 1, 2, or 3 needs to be cut out for the first digit of the day of the kill and a 0 through 9 for the second digit. Validation of the month is similar to previous tags. See example below. There is also an example on FWP's website at fwp.mt.gov under the "Hunting" headlines.
