Big Game Seasons Won't Be Extended

星期一, 十二月 02, 2013

Montana's 2013 general big game hunting seasons ended as planned on Sunday, Dec. 1 and will not be extended, state wildlife officials confirmed today.

"We are not planning any big game season extensions anywhere in the state this year," said Ken McDonald, chief of Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks' wildlife bureau. "If specific population or damage problems emerge, we'll use management seasons or game damage hunts to address them."

Hunters must have registered for the game damage roster in July.

Montana’s wolf hunting season, however, will continue in open wolf management units through March 15, 2014. So far, 94 wolves have been taken and all WMUs are open. The wolf trapping season will run Dec. 15 through Feb. 28, 2014. For information on wolf seasons, visit FWP's website at; click "For Hunters", then click "Montana Wolf Hunt".
