Live native turtles will be featured at a free presentation Sept. 10 at Spring Meadow Lake State Park’s group use shelter beginning at 6:30 p.m. The event is sponsored by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks’ Montana Wildlife Center.
Cherrie Angel, of East Helena, will introduce participants to native and nonnative turtles and explain how to identify native turtles, what a carapace is, how we can provide good turtle habitat, and other facts about turtles. Montana’s turtles are among the oldest resident wildlife species in the state.
Angel has a background in wildlife rehabilitation and more than 35 years of experience presenting wildlife education programs.
