Fish, Wildlife and Parks will hold a public meeting to discuss a proposed trade of land for public access to the Marias River State Park-Wildlife Management Area.

FWP is proposing to trade 120 acres to the Clark brothers of Shelby in return for a 3.8 mile easement through their property. The swap will improve both public access to the Marias River SP-WMA and public hunting opportunity on about 1,800 acres owned by the Clarks.

The 120-acre parcel lies adjacent to the Marias River SP-WMA, about nine miles southwest of Shelby.

The meeting will take place at 7 p.m., April 19, at the Marias River Electric Coop building in Shelby.

Also a draft environmental assessment has been prepared on the proposed swap. To view the EA go to the public notices link on the FWP web site: www.fwp.mt.gov. Or contact the FWP Region 4 office in Great Falls at (406) 454-5840.

Public comment will be taken on the EA until 5 p.m., April 29. Comments can be sent by mail to FWP Region 4, Marias River SP-WMA, 4600 Giant Springs Road, Great Falls MT 59405, or by email at: fwprg42@mt.gov.
