BILLINGS — Winter hours at Pictograph Cave State Park east of Billings will start Oct. 1. Through the foreseeable part of the season, the state park will open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. The new visitor center will open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the same days. The park will close Mondays and Tuesdays.
The new visitor center, which was dedicated in July, will allow Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks to leave the park open year-around. But open hours and days will be adjusted during the winter to balance available resources and visitor interests.
Group tours can be arranged by calling the park at 254-7342.
About 15,000 people visited the state park and visitor center during August. A campfire presentation on “Are there really ghosts in Ghost Cave?” is scheduled for Halloween evening at the park.
Admission to Pictograph Cave State Park is free for Montana residents but park fees apply to non-residents. For more information, call Pictograph Cave State Park at (406) 245-0227 or the Region 5 Fish, Wildlife and Parks office in Billings at (406) 247-2940.
