Headlines - Region 1

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP), Region One, has completed an environmental assessment (EA) for the rehabilitation of Upper and Lower Blossom Lakes and Blossom Creek to a native fish community by removing nonnative brook trout through piscicide application and subsequent restocking with native westslope cutthroat trout.  These waters are located approximately 25 miles west of Thompson Falls, Sanders County, Montana.

Based on analysis of the EA and public comment received during the 30-day public review, FWP will proceed with the restoration project. The draft EA together with the decision notice, which addresses comments submitted during the public comment period, will become the final document for this proposal.  Copies of the decision notice and final EA are available on the FWP web site at http://fwp.mt.gov under public notices; FWP headquarters office, 490 N Meridian Rd., Kalispell; Sanders Co. Library, 911 Main St., Thompson Falls; Montana State Library, 1515 E Sixth Ave., Helena; or call (406) 751-4579.
