Montana's Spring Turkey Hunting Season Coming Soon

Montana’s spring turkey gobbler season opens April 12, 2008.

 

Licenses are available from all Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks offices, on the FWP web site at fwp.mt.gov and from FWP license providers across the state.

 

Hunters who wish to hunt in a special spring turkey permit area have until March 13 to apply: online at fwp.mt.gov; in writing; by visiting a FWP office or by downloading an application from FWP’s web page.

 

Permit applications by mail must go to the FWP regional office managing the special permit area the applicant would like to hunt in. A written application must include one’s name, address and ALS number. Applicants must indicate which special permit hunting area the application is for, have a 2008 conservation license, and include a $5 nonrefundable drawing fee.

 

Special spring turkey permit applicants may apply for only one spring turkey permit and in only one area of the state.

 

The 2008 Spring Turkey Hunting regulations with details on turkey hunting in the general and special permit hunting areas will be available online and at FWP regional offices and FWP license providers in early March.

 

Hunters in FWP, Region 7 can purchase up to two turkey licenses per year, which are valid during the spring and/or fall seasons. In the spring, hunters can harvest gobblers (males). Any turkey license not used during the spring season any be used in the fall, beginning September 1st and are valid for gobblers or hens.
