The winning entries have been chosen in the Flathead area competition for the State-Fish Art contest sponsored by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, Snappy Sport Senter and Flathead Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited. These entries were judged by local wildlife artist Allen Jimmerson and Art Conservationist Joe Abbrescia, Jr.
All the winners this year were from Kalispell. First place for grades 4-6 went to Sophie George (4th grade), second place went to Sarah Paolini (4th grade) and third place went to Daniel Lambert (4th grade). Honorable mentions went to Libby Whitemore (4th grade), Cade Thurston (4th grade) and Dylan Brusell (4th grade).
First place for grades 7-9 went to Kimberly Belleville (7th grade) and second place went to Heather Fraley (8th grade).
The winners received ribbons and gift certificates and all entries were forwarded to the National Competition sponsored by Wildlife Forever. Those entries were judged on Earth Day, April 22, and the winners will be announced May 1. The local winners will be posted on the Region 1 FWP website.
