Snowmobile Safety Instructor Training Offered

Fri Oct 31 00:00:00 MST 2003

Snowmobiles and avalanches don’t mix—that is lesson number one in the snowmobile safety instructor training session scheduled in Butte, Dec. 6-7.  Prospective snowmobile safety instructors can register by calling Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks at 406-444-7317. The training sessions will be held at the Holiday Inn Express beginning each day at 10 a.m.

“This workshop prepares people to be qualified volunteer instructors,” said Ray Paige, FWP snowmobile safety coordinator. “Over 100 volunteers trained in this way teach snowmobile safety classes in Montana each winter season.”

Avalanche safety is an important component of this instructor training. Other topics include state rules and regulations; basics in preparing to snowmobile; handling a snowmobile under various circumstances; survival and emergency preparedness, and maintenance and repair.

For more information on attending this instructor training, or on local snowmobile safety courses that may be available in your area, call FWP at 406-444-7317.
