Montana's Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission will meet in the FWP Helena office, 1420 East Sixth Ave., August 4. The meeting will begin at 8 a.m. and is expected to end at noon.
The Commission will take final action on four items: 2000 deer, elk, antelope and fall turkey quotas, 2000-01 biennial fur season regulations and quotas; and a fishing regulation change proposed for Elk and Twin Lakes in Beaverhead County that would specify catch and release for lake trout which are native to these two lakes.
An update on the drought's impact on Montana's fisheries will be provided by Larry Peterman, Fisheries Division administrator.
Other issues to be discussed include the State Trails Plan and Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEIS); tentative waterfowl seasons, closures and regulations; a proposal to expand the Nine Pipe Wildlife Management Area; and a conservation easement proposal on the Pinehurst Ranch in Region Four.
The Montana State Trails Plan and PEIS will be available for review the first week in August by calling 406-444-3750.
Executive summaries of both documents will also be on the FWP web site under State Parks at fwp.state.mt.us. Public comment is being sought on these documents through September 25.
