Game bird farms, game bird shooting preserve programs and the general possession and release of commercial game birds are some of the topics covered in a Draft Environmental Impact Study (PEIS) that Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is seeking written and verbal comment on over the next five weeks.

"We're looking at a variety of issues such as the environmental impact of these programs, ways to streamline our management, and the preservation of native game birds," said Tim Feldner, FWP program manager.

A copy of the PEIS is available by writing Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks; Attn: Tim Feldner; Commercial Wildlife Permitting Program Manager; P.O. Box 200701; Helena, MT 59620-0701; by calling 406-444-2452 or by accessing the FWP web site at fwp.state.mt.us, under "Notices."

A public hearing is scheduled in Billings Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. at the FWP Region 5 Headquarters, 2300 Lake Elmo Drive. Written comments may be submitted through Feb. 29 by mail to Tim Feldner, or by email on the fwp web site by clicking on the "Comments" button next to the PEIS under "Notices."
