Doug Monger, a 20-year veteran with Montana State Parks, has been appointed as the new administrator of Fish, Wildlife & Parks' Parks Division in Helena.

Monger's work over his 20 years with the state agency has ranged from a position as a Parks Laborer, to a Park Operations Specialist, to Regional Parks Manager at FWP's Miles City office and, most recently, as assistant administrator for the division since 1990. Doug has served as acting administrator of the division since March of this year.

"I am excited about the challenges this position offers. My priorities are maintaining our parks, providing affordable, quality outdoor recreation in our state parks, and increasing the quality of our many visitors' experiences," Monger said.

In announcing Monger's appointment, Chris Smith, FWP's chief of staff, said, "Doug's background and experience in the State Parks program provide a solid foundation for his work as Administrator of the Parks Division. His new role will bring new challenges, including balancing the responsibilities of leading a division with serving as a key member of FWP's Management Team."
