The Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission will meet in Helena on Friday, May 29.
Heading the agenda for the meeting, which will begin at 8 a.m. in the auditorium of the SRS Building, 111 Sanders Street, will be the adoption of final harvest quotas for the 1998 bighorn sheep, mountain goat and moose seasons, as well as final 1998 mountain lion seasons and quotas. Commissioners also will adopt tentative elk, deer and antelope quotas for this fall's hunts, in addition to tentative 1998-1999 furbearer trapping seasons and regulations.
Among other business, the Commission will: act on a proposal it offered at its May 8 meeting that would close several Region 6 hunting districts to all hunting of mule deer in response to low population levels; take final action on a proposal by FWP to purchase a conservation easement on the Hahn property near Townsend; and hear a report on the development of a fisheries management plan for Canyon Ferry, Hauser and Holter reservoirs north of Helena.
The public is welcome to attend. The FWP Commission makes every effort to ensure that its meetings are held at facilities that are fully accessible to persons with mobility disabilities.
