Montana's spring turkey season opens Saturday, April 11. Only gobblers (male turkeys) are legal game during the spring season and the legal bag limit is one turkey per hunter. The spring turkey season closes one-half hour after sunset on Sunday, May 10.
All turkey hunters must have a valid upland game bird license, a conservation license and a turkey license in their possession to pursue turkeys. Because special permits are required in some areas of Montana during the spring season, hunters should check current regulations carefully before heading afield.
Shotguns not larger than 10 gauge or long, recurve or compound bows and arrows are the only means by which turkeys can legally be taken during the spring season. Rifles and handguns are not permitted.
Regulations for the spring turkey hunts are available at all FWP offices and at license agents throughout the state.
