The Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission will meet in Helena on Friday, May 30.
On the agenda for the meeting, which will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the FWP headquarters at 1420 East Sixth Avenue, will be the adoption of final harvest quotas for the 1997 bighorn sheep, mountain goat and moose hunting seasons next fall, as well as final 1997-98 mountain lion seasons and quotas.
Among other business, the Commission will adopt final changes to next fall's big game hunting seasons in response to game losses brought about by the harsh winter of 1996-97 in some parts of Montana, as well as set tentative lynx, bobcat and fisher trapping quotas for 1997-98. Commissioners also will be updated on FWP's 1997 Canyon Ferry Reservoir walleye removal effort and hear a report on the status of FWP's environmental impact statement on the proposed expansion of the Wallace Game Farm west of Drummond.
The public is welcome to attend. The FWP Commission makes every effort to ensure that its meetings are held at facilities that are fully accessible to persons with mobility disabilities.
