Hunters are reminded that the deadline for submitting applications to Fish, Wildlife & Parks' annual special license and permit drawings to obtain licenses to hunt moose, bighorn sheep and mountain goats this coming fall is May 1.
The deadline for applying for antelope, special elk and deer B licenses and deer permits is June 2.
New this year is a requirement that hunters who receive a special permit for taking an antlered buck mule deer are restricted to taking a buck mule deer in the district or portion of a district specified on the permit. They may not hunt antlered buck mule deer anywhere else in Montana during the general season. Hunting districts in which mule deer buck permits are being offered for 1997 are: 291; 441; 455; 530, and 652.
This restriction does not apply during archery-only season.
Special license and permit applications now are available at all Fish, Wildlife & Parks offices and license agents. For more information on the new buck mule deer permit requirement or the annual drawings, contact your nearest FWP office, or call Special Licensing in Helena at (406) 444-2950.
