The Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission will meet on Friday, April 4, in Helena.
Heading the agenda for the meeting, which is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. at the FWP headquarters on East Sixth Avenue, is the adoption of tentative moose, bighorn sheep, mountain goat and mountain lion quotas and regulations for the 1997 hunting seasons. Commissioners also will be asked to close bighorn sheep Hunting District 302 to all sheep hunting next fall in response to a die-off of bighorns in the district this winter and to adopt as final a plan developed by FWP to guide its future management of warmwater fisheries in the state. Copies of the warmwater management plan are available for review by the public and can be obtained prior to the April 4 meeting by calling FWP's Fisheries Division at 406-444-2449.
Commissioners also will, among other matters, address several FWP lands-related topics.
Following the meeting, Commissioners will hold a work session with FWP staff to discuss a number of FWP-related matters including changes that may need to be made in regulations prior to next fall's hunting seasons and current legislation that may in some manner affect the work or operations of FWP. No official action is scheduled to take place at work sessions.
The public is welcome to attend. The FWP Commission makes every effort to ensure that its meetings are held at facilities that are fully accessible to persons with mobility disabilities.
