Fishing Derbies Under Consideration

The Sweet Grass Archers have proposed to hold their Annual Carp Shoot at Lake Elwell on June 14, 1997.

Approximately 35 participants are expected to compete for cash and prizes for the most pounds of fish in the men's, women's and youth divisions and the heaviest fish overall. The proposed entry fee is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for youth.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks will be soliciting comments from persons interested in, or potentially affected by, the derby through January 20, 1997. The Montana B.A.S.S. Federation has proposed to hold a state qualifying derby at Noxon Rapids Reservoir on May 3 and 4, 1997.

Approximately 40 participants are expected to compete for the heaviest two day total of a possible 10 fish and the proposed entry fee is $35.

The Fresno Chapter of Walleyes Unlimited has proposed to hold a fishing derby at Fresno Reservoir on May 31 and June 1, 1997.

Approximately 125 two person teams are expected to compete for combination of cash and prizes not to exceed a value of $9,200.00. This is a catch and release tournament for walleye and prizes will be awarded based on the heaviest combined weight of up to five walleye each day per team. The proposed entry fee is $120 per team.

The Wolf Point Chapter of Walleyes Unlimited has proposed to hold a fishing derby at Fort Peck - Dry Arm on June 14-15, 1997.

Approximately 125 two person teams are expected to compete for cash prizes consisting of 80% of entrance fees. The proposed entry fee is $120 per team. This is a catch and release tournament and prizes will be awarded based on the combined weight of five fish per day.

Approximately 125 two person teams are expected to compete for a combination of prizes and cash consisting of 80% of entrance fees. The proposed entry fee is $120 per team. This is a catch and release tournament and prizes will be awarded based on the combined weight of five fish per day.

Approximately 75 two person teams are expected to compete for a combination of cash and prizes not to exceed 80% of the entry fee after expenses. The proposed entry fee is $120.00 per team.
