Headlines

Friday, September 27, 1996

Five hundred A-7 elk licenses remaining after the annual special license and permit drawings will be sold over the counter, first-come, first-served beginning October 1 at the FWP offices in Butte and Bozeman.

These licenses are valid only in Hunting District 329. There is both public and private land in this hunting district. Hunters must give up their general elk license in exchange for the A-7 license. Restrictions of the A-7 licenses include only being able to hunt in HD 329 and that the license is only good for taking an antlerless elk. Hunters also can use this license during the archery-only season, but they are only able to hunt in HD 329 and can only harvest an antlerless elk.

These licenses will be on sale at the FWP Butte Area Office, 1820 Meadowlark Lane and the FWP Region 3 Office in Bozeman, 1400 South 19th Avenue, on October 1, 2 and 3. Hours at the Butte Office are 12:30 - 4:15 p.m., Monday through Friday. Hours at the Bozeman office are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Licenses also will be sold in Dillon on October 1 at the U.S. Forest Service office located at 420 Barrett from 4 - 8 p.m.

Hunters must bring their general elk license with them. There will be a $3 fee for issuing this license.

Hunters may call 683-9305 or 994-4042 for additional information.
