Comment Sought on Leasing Land for Tiber Reservoir AIS Inspection Station

Fishing - Region 4

Tuesday, February 05, 2019

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks seeks public comment on a proposal to lease a half acre of private ranch land along State Highway 2 about half a mile south of the town of Lothair on Willow Creek Road to establish a seasonal aquatic invasive species (AIS) inspection station.

FWP has operated a boat inspection and decontamination site at Willow Creek boat ramp at Tiber Reservoir. However, the new proposed site will be closer to Highway 2, which would increase visibility and watercraft inspection compliance. The lease with the private landowner has been negotiated for $1,800 annually for a one-year term, renewable in one- to five-year terms.

A draft Environmental Assessment of the proposal is available for comment and review on the FWP website: http://fwp.mt.gov/news/publicNotices/environmentalAssessments/acquisitionsTradesAndLeases/pn_0227.html

Written comments will be accepted until 5 p.m., Feb. 19, 2019, mail to: Willow Creek AIS Inspection Station, FWP, PO Box 200701, Helena, MT 59620.
