Selway Bridge FAS Closed As Construction Project Begins

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has begun development of a new Fishing Access Site on the Beaverhead River adjacent to the Selway Bridge. Work at the site is anticipated to be complete by June 1, 2018.

Montana’s Fish and Wildlife Commission recently approved the request to obtain a Recreational Use Permit from the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) to develop the site which has been used by the public for years to access the river without formal roads or a true boat ramp.

The project is a collaborative effort of the Beaverhead Trails Coalition (BTC), MDT, and FWP with work including re-grading a pioneered loop road, creating formal parking spaces, and reclaiming other pioneered areas of the site.

The BTC is funding the development of most of the site. FWP will be responsible for the gravel boat ramp construction. Also, the BTC will handle day-to-day maintenance of the site with FWP assisting as needed.
