Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP), Region One, has completed a draft environmental assessment (EA) for the South Fork of Coal Creek Habitat Enhancement Project. FWP proposes to implement a project to increase available spawning and rearing habitat for westslope cutthroat trout and bull trout by adding large, woody debris into an impaired section of the South Fork of Coal Creek in Flathead County (T32N, R22W, Sections 25 & 26).
.
The draft was out for a 21-day public review through June 28, 2013. Three comments were received, with none in opposition to the project. Therefore, it is recommended that FWP implement the proposed South Fork of Coal Creek Habitat Enhancement Project at this time.
Copies of the decision notice are available at the FWP office, 490 N. Meridian Rd., Kalispell; Montana State Library, 1515 E 6th Ave., Helena; Flathead County libraries, and the FWP website at fwp.mt.gov under Public Notices.
