Fish, Wildlife and Parks is seeking public comment on a draft environmental assessment to acquire two parcels totaling about 3 acres in fee title along Big Spring Creek in Fergus County to establish a fishing access site.

In addition to acquiring the two parcels, FWP proposes to develop approximately half an acre of these areas for a parking area, a concrete vault latrine, fencing, picnic tables and signage.

The proposed FAS is located along Big Spring Creek seven miles southeast of Lewistown along Fish Hatchery Road across from the lower unit of Big Spring Creek Trout Hatchery.

The draft EA is available for public viewing and submitting comments at the FWP website under the public notices link.

Written comments only will be accepted until 5 p.m., July 17, 2013, and can be emailed to gliknes@mt.gov or mailed to: Upper Big Spring Creek FAS Proposed Acquisition and Development, Attn: George Liknes, FWP R4, 4600 Giant Springs Road, Great Falls MT 59405.
