MILES CITY, Mont.--Flood conditions prompted Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP) to close Kinsey Bridge Fishing Access Site (FAS) on the Yellowstone River the afternoon of May 31st.  Twelve Mile FAS on the Tongue River was also closed Friday due to high water levels, but has reopened as of June 3rd.

These and any other FAS that may be closed due to flood conditions will remain closed until river levels subside, damages are assessed and the site is again safe for recreation. For updates on closures, check the FWP website at fwp.mt.gov and follow links to “restrictions and closures.”

FWP urges caution if venturing on or near rivers during high water. Rivers carry a large amount of debris in the springtime and with soil saturation that has come with recent rains, river banks are known to slough off. These conditions not only pose dangerous hazards to boaters but also recreationists on shore.
