Flooding Forces Closure of Twelve Mile FAS

Fishing - Region 7

Fri May 31 10:53:00 MDT 2013

MILES CITY, Mont.--Flood conditions prompted Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP) to close Twelve Mile Fishing Access Site (FAS) on the Tongue River today.

The FAS will remain closed until river levels subside and the site is again safe for recreation. For updates on closures, check the FWP website at and follow links to “restrictions and closures.”

FWP urges caution if venturing on or near rivers during high water. Rivers carry a large amount of debris in the springtime and with soil saturation that has come with recent rains, river banks are known to slough off. These conditions not only pose dangerous hazards to boaters but also recreationists on shore. Scout ahead and be prepared for changing conditions.
